A Full House for 'Magic in the Garden'

'Magic in the Garden' the initial UK fund raising event in support of British Memorial Garden, New York has attracted impressive support. The reception in the Churchill Room at the House of Commons on April 29 hosted by David Tredinnick MP and arranged by The British Memorial Garden Trust UK Ltd, will be full to capacity.

As the UK charity helping to raise the £3 million (approx. $5.5 million) necessary to build and maintain a British garden in Lower Manhattan, The British Memorial Garden Trust UK Ltd is using the occasion to attract potential sponsors and donors, and to thank those who are already contributing time and money.

Scheduled to open in the latter part of 2005, the garden is intended to celebrate Britain's longstanding relationship with New York City. It will serve as a place to remember the British citizens who lost their lives in the September 11, 2001 World Trade Center disaster and provide a focus for the British expatriate community on such occasions as Remembrance Day.

In welcoming guests to 'Magic in the Garden' David Tredinnick complimented the excellent work of the New York-based British Memorial Garden Trust Inc, which has secured the approval of all New York City agencies in unprecedented time and gained tremendous support culminating in the Royal Patronage of HRH The Prince of Wales. He said: "It is good to work with them and together we are making excellent progress.
