Global Tribute Partners…

The Directors of The British Memorial Garden Trust UK Ltd. are proud to announce that the formal opening of the British Garden at Hanover Square New York took place on July 6th 2010, when the Garden was graced by the presence of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and her husband Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. The British Memorial Garden Trust UK Ltd. is pleased to have helped in the British fundraising and creation of awareness of the project.

"From the very early days of the project we had this hope, this wish that we quietly, amongst ourselves, would voice for Her Majesty to join the families in the park and open it with them - and now it has happened... and it was such a surreal, magical moment for all of us involved."

Camilla Hellman, MBE,
President Emerita, British Memorial Garden Trust Inc.

President 2002- 2009

The British Memorial Garden Trust UK Ltd. was formed in 2004. A primary campaign has been the raising of funds and awareness in Britain for the development and construction of the The British Garden at Hanover Square, New York. The park honours the sixty seven British victims of the World Trade Center attacks of September 11th 2001 whilst celebrating the historic ties of friendship binding the United States and Britain.

We will continue to support the US trust's plans for the maintenance of the park with your help but are also pursuing other initiatives to unite and strengthen through adversity. As the British Global Affiliate Partner of The September Concert Foundation we are adding additional concerts to our programs this year and will shortly be announcing plans for other projects involving renewal through music and children's therapy. There are many ways for you or your organization to help, support and become involved.

We hope that you will continue to help and support our efforts.

We invite you to view this recent video put together by the City of New York Department of Parks and Recreation:

In 2005 British Memorial Garden Trust UK Ltd presented our first concert on September 11th in Grosvenor Square in association with The September Concert Foundation, one of over 200 concerts undertaken around the world that day filling the skies with music.

Now an annual event, our involvement led to our appointment in 2007 as the British Global Affiliate Partner of The September Concert Foundation.

Charged with developing their wonderful message in Britain this year, it is our hope to increase the program of concerts performed in Britain - and also to involve more children in the project, helping them to be a part of the three day initative and to learn through their involvement in the Honouring of the Day. Concerts plans are underway for Edinburgh, London and several other towns in Britain.  To learn of ways to help or organize a concert, click here.
